It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Douglas Patterson (Augusta, Georgia), who passed away on July 2, 2018, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Pauline Howard Patterson and Harry N. Patterson; and his brother Rudolph Nelson Patterson. He is survived by: his spouse Fonda Ghann; his children, Constance P. Haywood (Thomas) of Suwanee, GA, Douglas Patterson, Jr. (Carol) of Gainesville, GA, Ghann P. Shirer and Hope Ghann Patterson of Brookline, MA; his grandchildren, Emma Patterson Haywood, Tybee Haywood, Paige Patterson, Sam Patterson, Callie Patterson, Jake Shirer and Rob Shirer; his sisters, Brenda Gail Patterson Lucich and Cathy Marion (Ray); and his siblings-in-law, Margaret M. Patterson and Clay A. Ghann (Cathy).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to the American Heart Association, 516 West Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
