He was predeceased by: his spouse Katherine Wood Samuelson; and his children, Gary "Rusty" Nichols and Rhonda Meyer. He is survived by: his children, Mike Nichols, Laura Nichols of North Augusta, SC, Debbie Horton and Buddy Horton of Augusta. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
