We are sad to announce that on April 12, 2024, at the age of 69, Joseph Elmer Hopwood of Baxley, Georgia, born in Port Matilda, Pennsylvania passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, William "Hoppy" Hopwood and Barbara Stanton Hopwood; his son Billy Ray Hopwood; and his sister Vicky Hopwood. He is survived by : his wife Sheila Hopwood of Baxley; his children, Lynn Meilander (Teddy) of Elyria, Mandy Krueck (Keith) of Lorain, Teri Ann Turner of Calhoun, Casey Armstrong (Jeremy) of Valdosta, Tammie Bishop (Brian) of Wesley Chapel, FL, Missy Dodds (Cully McGrath) of Lakeland, FL, Cynthia Hopwood of Tampa, FL, Joey Dixon (Dawn) of Wellington, Bobby Hopwood of Lorain and Robby Vinion (Maylin) of Wesley Chapel, FL; his sister Peggy Henderson of Hazlehurst; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Reynolds of Baxley, Joe Reynolds of Baxley and David Reynolds (Barbara) of Baxley; his uncle Ricky Stanton (Marion) of Lorain, Ohio; and his aunt Laura Hand of Hazlehurst. He is also survived by Fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

A funeral service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home (1632 Hatch Pkwy N, Baxley, GA 31513). A burial was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 4:30 PM at the Carter Cemetery (426 Carter Cemetery Rd, Baxley, GA 31513).
