It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Opal Lamonds of Blackshear, Georgia, who passed away on August 6, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gideon Holton and Clemon Johnson Holton; her former husband Stephen Clinton Bass; her daughters, Brenda Carol Thrift and Deborah Susan Hinson; her grandson Sean Olds; her stepdaughter Diane Lairsey; and her siblings, T. P. Holton, Lucille Beecher, Winnie Hinson, Robert Holton, Jack Holton, Wannie McDaniel, Beulah Holton, Brookie Holton and Milton Holton.
She is survived by: her husband Calvin Lamonds of Blackshear; her daughters, Peggy White (Richard) of Odum and Teresa Johnson (Steve) of Blairsville; and her stepdaughter Cynthia Lamonds Barber of Waresboro. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
