He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hershel Charles and Minnie Lee Langley Charles; his wife Opal Sue Stiles Charles; and his siblings, Buell Charles, Virginia Smith, Georgia Ann Hyde, Kermit Charles and William Charles.
He is survived by: his son John Wesley; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Hope Charles of Hendersonville, TN; his granddaughters, Autumn MacKenzie Thomas and Bethany Meagan Charles; his siblings, Jewel Charles and Claudavee Charles; and his sister-in-law Carol Beach. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, masks will be required during the visitation and funeral.
