He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Burton and Sharlee Burton; his daughter Barbara Ellen Burton; his wife Sally Burton; his son David Burton; his grandchildren, Sally Ann Hanzalik and Wesley Hanzalik; his son-in-law Michael Hanzalik of Brunswick, GA.; his sister Susan; his brother-in-law Gary Christopher; and his siblings, David and Emily Long.

Donations can be made to the Diabetic Association or to the First Baptist Church St Simons Island, GA.
