He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Butler and Peggy Butler; and his sister Sheila Butler. He is survived by: his wife Robin Butler; his children, Richard Pye Butler and Candice Pye Butler Jackson; his grandchild Jalen Prince Jackson; his adoptive mother Julia Massey; his siblings, Selina Bell, Robert Massey, Jennifer Baker and Timothy Massey; and his siblings' children, Tyrus Parrish, Nicholas Goss, Randall Goss, Sheri Goss Pearson, Mariah Makiah, Nathan Smith, Jr. and Stanley.
