She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Shirley and Maggie Bowden Shirley; her husband Jessie Lee Bennett; her son Charles D. Bennett; her son-in-law Donald Hale; and her sisters, Mildred Shugart and Martha Lee Wilson.
She is survived by: her daughter Cathy; her children-in-law, Jimmy Owens and Dianne Hale; her grandchildren, Michael Owens (Shawnette), Cindy Reed (Keith) and Becky Hale; her great grandchildren, Jeremy Godfrey, Holly Bohannon, Emily Bohannon, Steven Proper (La'Sha) and Brittany Stephens (Jonathan); her great great grandchildren, Ally, Boyd Proper, Leila and Mayleigh Stephens; and her niece Mary Nix. She is also survived by other nieces and nephews.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made in her memory to the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Keenagers, and Blackwood Adults on Mission, 4921 Fairmount Highway, Calhoun, GA 30701.
