We are sad to announce that on November 12, 2024, at the age of 84, Nellie Jean Matheny Popphan of Carrollton, Georgia, born in LaGrange, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Thomas "J. T." Matheny and Mary Frances Potts Matheny; her husband James Harlan Popphan; and her siblings, Thomas Matheny, Ermalee Thrower, Eulamae Bowen, Evelyn Thomas and Corene Usher.
She is survived by: her children, Jerry (Tina Popphan), Christopher Popphan, Sandra Griffith, Judy (Dennis Patterson), Susan (Tillman Perkins) and Jeremy (Megan Popphan); and her sister Bernice Bannister. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
