He was predeceased by: his parents, Burl Dye and Beatrice Hight Dye; his wife Jo Anne Hatfield Dye; and his son-in-law J. T. Mullinax, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Gay Mullinax; his grandchild Adam Williams (Elizabeth) of Ashley Dover; and his siblings, Patricia Taff, Bobby Dye (Wanda) and Clayton Dye (Anne). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, 5 great grandchildren.
