He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Benjamin Carl and Flora Jane Connell; his wife Lois Cannon Connell; and his sons, Jason (Kristina Connell) and Joey (Kimberly Connell).

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donation be made to the Polk County Fire Departments.
