She was predeceased by : her parents, Jesse Broome (Otha Belle Hollingsworth Broome) and Chickamauga; her former life partner Floyd Phillips; and her brothers, Wallace Broome and Eugene Broome.

She is survived by : her husband James Swearengin Jr.; her children, Joanna Phillips (Roger Bowers), Chuck Phillips (Carolyn), Lisa Tennant (Robert) and Kristy Lee; her sister Linda Henson; and her grandchildren, Joshua Borin (Gwen), Juliean England (Matthew), Cody Jordan, Casey Jordan, Mindy Edge (Jeff), Ashley Kelley (Brian) and Austin Lee. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
