She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Heaton and Sophie Lusk Heaton; her husband Robert Raleigh Speed; and her siblings, Columbus Heaton, Lester Heaton, Elgin Heaton, Hazel Strauss, Dolly Heaton and Ester Mulroney.
She is survived by: her sons, Boyce Speed (Donna) of Tiger and Boyd Speed (Shannon) of Clayton, Georgia; her sisters, Virgie Nell Sims of Salem and Beatrice Heaton of Salem; her grandchildren, Shanda Hunnicutt (Rusty), Seth Speed (Katie Watson) and Wendy Mullis (Travis); and her great grandchildren, Chaz Mullis, Maddie Mullis and Jared Mullis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Irene's memory to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 7245 Warwoman Rd. Clayton, GA 30525.
