He was predeceased by : his parents, Lester Schutt and Doris Schutt of Armada, Michigan.; his sister Wilda Beaver; and his wife Sharon Schutt. He is survived by : his daughter Kelli Nix Miley; his grandson Elijah Nix; his pet Dixie of Cleveland, GA; his sister Dianne La Pointe of Michigan; his niece Heather Hayes; his nephew Hunter La Pointe; and his cousins, James Tenniswood, Dave Tenniswood, Patricia Szewczyk and Roy Smith.
