He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hadden and Ima Lockhart Gilliam; his wife Edwina Munson Gilliam; his sons, Edwin L. Gilliam and Scott D. Downing; and his brothers, Charles H. Gilliam, Jr., Curtis G. Gilliam and Christian.
He is survived by: his children, Missy G. Moore and Timothy Stephens Downing (Beth); his daughter-in-law Melissa Brown Roberts (Stacey); his grandchildren, Kevin Joel Moore, Kyle Brandon Moore, Brittany Morgan Pittman (Brian), Erin Skylar Downing, Whitney Haralson Bridges (Kyle), Zackery Dale Downing (Jasmine), Peyton David Downing, Garland Sumner (Melissa), Slade Sumner (Haley), Logan Baughman (Kara), Savannah Baughman and Josie Roberts; his great grandchildren, Abigail Jane Moore, McKenzie Grace Bridges, Spindel Lee Bridges, Harper Fynlee Pittman, Masen Jack Downing, Jackson Sumner, River Sumner and Forrest Sumner; and his sister-in-law Marie Tuton (B. W.). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
