He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Tyler Mitchell, Sr. and Nell Earlene Brown Mitchell; his daughters, Kimberly Lockman and Tracey Holcomb; his wife Paula Mitchell of Macon; his former spouses, Sonja Mitchell and Laney Mitchell of Culloden; his grandchildren, Cameron Brett Lockman, Heather Lockman, Haley Holcomb and Hunter Holcomb; and his siblings, Tyler Mitchell (Linda) of Macon, Lee Mitchell (Melissa) of Culloden and Marianne Ellis (Harvey) of High Falls. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
