He was predeceased by : his parents, Amos L. Gillespie and Emma Jo Shirley Gillespie. He is survived by : his wife Gwinda "Gwen" Cole Gillespie of Cumming, Georgia; his daughters, Emmila "Missy" Gillespie Bozeman (Terry Bozeman) of Cartersville and Rebecca Gillespie Zager (Andy Zager) of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, Emma Lee Hutchins, Charles Gillespie Bozeman, Kellie Ann Satterfield, Rachel Zager and Ethan Zager; and his great grandchildren, Reyna Mae Bozeman and Madison Lee Hutchins.
