It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elaine Ivey Payne (Dahlonega, Georgia), born in Sugar Hill, Georgia, who passed away on December 24, 2018, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband James DeForrest Payne, Sr.; her daughter Sheryl Lynn Payne; her parents, Joseph Olin Ivey and Iva Goolsby Ivey; and her brother Joe Ivey.
She is survived by: her children, Kathy S. Gent (Floyd) and James D. Payne, Jr. (Lynne); her grandchildren, Adam Gent (Diane), Ben Gent (Mei), Kelley Engleskirger (Michael), Lindsey Brackett (Joshua), Corey Payne (Alaina), Katy Stephens (Paul), Ashley Hill, Calley Payne, Kelsey Payne, Johns Creek and Audrey Amos (Lee); and her sister Wanslie Ivey Poole of Clarksville, GA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Chelsey Park Health and Rehab, 200 Mountain Park Drive, Dahlonega, GA 30533, in memory of Elaine Payne.
