She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore Bell and Anna O'Toole Bell; her husband James Clynton Fitts, Sr.; her children, Susan Fitts and James C. "Jimmy" Fitts, Jr.; her brothers, Theodore Bell, Frank Bell and George Bell; her granddaughter Georgette Fitts; and her son-in-law John Albert Madden, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth of Dahlonega, Roger Mincey of Dahlonega, Claudette Lee of Dahlonega, Joseph Fitts of Dahlonega, Theresa of Dahlonega, David Voss of Dahlonega, Arthur of Dahlonega, Joan Fitts of Dahlonega, Joyce Madden, Dorothy and Randall Brookshire; her daughter-in-law Susan Kendall Fitts; and her siblings, Joseph and Anna May Trotto. She is also survived by Ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gertrude's name may be made to St Luke's Evangelist Catholic Church, 91 N Parks Street, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
