She was predeceased by: her husband Joe D. Whelchel; her son John William Whelchel; her sons-in-law, Bill Hanson and Jimmy Early; and her siblings, Nadine Holland, Bernice Reeves and Theo Grant.
She is survived by: her daughters, Brenda Anne Hanson, Dahlonega, Martha Elliott Early, Blairsville, Rhonda Whelchel Huckeba (Carl Stowers), Dawsonville and Carolyn (Big John McMahan); and her sister-in-law Sally Faye Grant. She is also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
