She was predeceased by : her parents, William Patton and Myrtle Stewart Patton; her husband Charlie Mitchell; her sons, William "Sonny" Hightower and Paul "Larry" Hightower; her brother Garland; her sister-in-law Ollie Patton; and her sisters, Ruby (Arthur Smith), Elmae (Lock Bold), Rosa (Ojar Ekstedt) and Betty Hyde.
She is survived by : her children, Brenda A. Barrett, Linda Brown and Danny Carter; her close friend Bobby Ruff; and her pet TJ. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
