Though Shirley Ophelia Wofford may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Shirley Ophelia Wofford touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Alexander Jones, Sr.; and her sons, Charles Lamar Jones and Joseph Alexander "June Bug" Jones, Jr.. She is survived by: her daughter Neysa Mayfield (Carlton); her grandchildren, Joshua Jones (Chelsey), Whitley Washington (Trae), Chaz Alexander Mayfield and Sasha Helena Mayfield; and her brother-in-law Vollie Macon, Sr. of Chicago. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The lying in state will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Willis Funeral Home (2011 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Dalton, GA 30721). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
