He was predeceased by: his parents, William Rutland and Freddie Mae Rutland. He is survived by: his wife Luella Rutland; his siblings, Freddie Rutland and Mary Alice Watts; his stepchildren, Ronald Lynn Ellis and Valerie Denise Smith; his great grandchild Serenity Danielle Ellis; his sister Frances Jones; his stepson Danny Ellis; and his daughters-in-law, Jacqueline Ellis and Melody Ellis. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rainbow Park (2941 Columbia Dr, Decatur, GA 30034). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
