He is survived by: his wife Lera Deen Merritt of Douglas, GA; his daughters, Maggie Bennett (Andrew) of Douglas, GA and Chrystal Tyson (David) of Warrick, RI; his grandchildren, Alexis Trowell, Lainey McQuaig, Lakin Trowell, Braidyn Bennett, Colt Taylor, Sarah Jean Tyson and Christina Marie Tyson; and his siblings, Faye Canta (Al) of Garland, TX, Marshall Merritt and Elmer Merritt. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
