He is survived by: his sons, John Burkett of North Carolina and Phillip Burkett of Douglas, GA; his stepdaughter Billie Jo Merritt of Douglas, GA; and his siblings, Connie Smith (Johnny) of Douglas, GA and Richard L. Burkett of Douglas, GA. He is also survived by three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
