She was predeceased by: her parents, Early Lee and Charity Kirkland Lee; her great grandchild Caroline Smith; and her siblings, Norma Ann Bennett, Kermit Lee and Quitman Lee.
She is survived by: her husband Maxell Smith of Douglas, GA; her children, Debbie S. Knight (John) of Broxton, GA, Linda Sprouse of Douglas, GA, Danny Smith (Cathy) of Douglas, GA and Mackie Smith (Teresa) of Pearson, GA; her brother Billy Lee (Levan) of Bickley, GA; and her grandchildren, Brent Smith (Marnie), Dana Dunn (Jason), Jamaine Gieger (Lynn), Erica Gaskins, Kearston Gaskins, Griffin Gaskins, Holly McCallum (Matt), Cam Eaton (Marly), Brooke Evans (Stanley), Anslee Smith, Shawn Knight and Jason Knight. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 3, 1937 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late Early and Charity Kirkland Lee.
