He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Dorothy C. Poole of Douglas, GA; his sister Linda Harman of Lilburn, GA; his stepchild Kay Fletcher (Michael) of Douglas, GA; his grandchildren, Mathew A. Carter (Lacey), Mandy C. McMillian (Jessie), Lacey Reese (Michael) and Joshua Michael Fletcher; and his great grandchildren, Kayden Carter, Anna Catherine Carter, Savannah Carter, Belle Monroe Carter, Carter McMillian, Mary Evelyn McMillian and Cliff McMillian. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
