He is survived by: his wife Sandy Bardin Scherer; his children, Pamela Dawn Cagasan (Teddy), Jeffrey Paul Scherer and John Philipp Scherer (Heather); his grandchildren, Annalysa Cagasan, Grace Thompson, Belle Redmon (Cade), Julia Cagasan, Lily Scherer, Joshua Cagasan, Caleb Cagasan, Melody Cagasan and James Paul Scherer; and his sister Norma Hurt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church (5633 Dorsett Shoals Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. The inurnment will be held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114).
