She was predeceased by: her husband James Allen; her parents, John Harris and Minnie Harris (McWhorter); her children, Denise Tyson, Janis Hulsey and Charles Allen; her grandson Nathan Allen; and her brother John Harris.

She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Morgan (Leon) and Lynn Allen.

Due to Covid, the family will plan a public service for Janelle in the future.
