It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alex Gaines Nelms Jr. (Elberton, Georgia), born in Bowman, Georgia, who passed away on December 13, 2019, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Gaines Nelms, Sr. and Lula Scoggins Nelms. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Jean Sanders Nelms; his children, Debbie Lynn Sanchez of Elberton and Mitchell Keith Nelms of Killeen, TX; his grandchildren, Brandon William Horton of Athens, Niki and Blake Ingram of Elberton; and his great grandchild Ava.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
