He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Helen Corcoran Baade; his parents, Richard Baade and Martha Osheski Baade; and his sister Martha Knusch. He is survived by: his children, Pamela Ownbey (Christopher) of Pennsylvania, Steven Baade of North Carolina and Matthew Baade of New York; and his siblings, Frances Marino of New York and Richard Baade of New York. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
