With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jamie Edmond Thornton (Elberton, Georgia), who passed away on October 24, 2020 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jamie Bowman Thornton and Mary Rebecca Todd Thornton; his son Jamie Edmond Thornton, Jr.; and his siblings, Alice Nichols, Wilma McGee, Marion Hosea, Clyde Thornton, David Thornton and John Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie Irael Martin Thornton; his children, Joe, Gail Thornton of Starr, SC, Barbara and Richard McIntosh of Hartwelll, GA; his siblings, Brenda, Johnny Rice of Elberton, GA and Jane Nichols of Anderson, SC; and his grandchildren, Stephen Thornton, Tracy Maxwell of Albuquerque, NM, Shannon, Allen Lovell of Social Circle, GA, Parker, Joy Thornton of Anderson, SC, Chad, Lisa McIntosh of Hartwell and Lydia Martin of Starr, SC. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Those attending are encouraged to wear face masks and may want to bring a lawn chair as social distancing will be observed.
