He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Christine Rousey Johnson; his parents, John Thomas Johnson and France Louise Thornton Johnson; and his siblings, Dallas Johnson and Beverly Jean Johnson.

He is survived by: his sons, Kevin "Fluff" of Elberton, Dana Johnson of Elberton and Keith Johnson of Elberton; his grandchild Carmen Johnson; his stepgrandson Blake Turner; his brother Wayne; and his sister-in-law Lynn Johnson of Dewy Rose.
