She was predeceased by: her husband John D. Hobbs; her parents, Elbert Newsome and Malinda Newsome; and her siblings, Ruby Blackwell, Jean Johnson, John, Lewis, Homer, Vernon, Wilber and Lester Newsome.
She is survived by: her children, Deborah Sloan-Walker (Gordon) and Dennis Hobbs (Lee); her stepdaughter Phyllis Martin (Randy); her son-in-law Dr. Allen Sloan (Connie); her grandchildren, David Sloan, Rachel Sloan, Jordan Hobbs and Elizabeth Hobbs; her stepgrandchildren, Tracie, Jon, Michaela and Elizabeth; her great grandchildren, Rhett, Camille and Tucker; and her siblings-in-law, Helen Newsome and Leonard Johnson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
