She was predeceased by: her husband William H. Avery, Jr.; her son William H. Avery, III; and her brother William M. Goethe. She is survived by: her sister Sarah Reese; her children, Carolyn Grese (Frank) and David Avery (Dusty); her grandchildren, Paul Avery (Holly), Frank Grese, III (Joy), John Grese, Katie Grese, Ryan Avery Davis (Joe) and Benjamin Avery; and her great grandchildren, Jackson Avery, Dylan Avery and Frank Grese, IV.

In honor of Irene and in lieu of flowers, the family would request gifts be made to the Brandon Wilde employee education scholarship, The Beebe Educational Endowment, care of Brandon Wilde, 4275 Owens Rd., Evans, GA 30809.
