He was predeceased by: his parents, Janelle Hawes Maxwell and Jesse Marvin Hawes; and his parents-in-law, Ralph and June Herndon. He is survived by: his wife Susan Herndon Hawes; his sons, Joseph Hawes (Sherri) and Justin Hawes (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Sara, Spencer Hawes and Bentley Hawes; his stepson Barrett Stafford; and his sister Janis Reynolds.
