He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Thurman and Millie Tanner Thurman; his wife Louise Barton Thurman; and his brothers, John Thurman and Everette Thurman.
He is survived by: his daughter Mary McDaniel (Edward); his grandson Jonathan McDaniel (Tori); his great grandchildren, Jasper McDaniel and Emmet McDaniel; his sister Pollie Neal; and his brother-in-law Charles Barton (Ione). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
