He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar M. Tanner and Leila Wright Tanner; his wife Beulah Ann Taylor Tanner; his children, Deborah Cronon, Lura Watts and David Wayne Tanner; his siblings, Ethel Evans, Elise Jones, Gracelle Yancey, Danny, Weldon and Fain Tanner; and his grandson Jacob Tate Tanner.
He is survived by: his children, Wanda Cline (Tom) of Columbus, Marie Branton (Ronnie) of Cartersville, Robert Walter Tanner (Winnie) of Ranger and Alvin Tanner (Vickie) of Dallas; his brother J. W. Tanner (Jennie) of Locust Grove; and his grandchildren, Lisa Whitaker, Laura Harris, Ben Cronon, Katie Cronon, Sarah Collum, John Branton, Kimberly Watts, Alana Watts, Kimberly Davis, Misty Pittman, Chris Pittman, Kelly Jackson, Amy Chavet and Nikki Hopper. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
