With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gretchen Anne Holtz in Flowery Branch, Georgia, born in Salem, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 29, 2025 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by: her husband John Barry Holtz. She is survived by: her son Richard W. Holtz (Sarah) of Acton; her grandchildren, William, Elizabeth and Catherine; her daughters, Karen Swamy (Gopal) of Brookhaven and Georgia; and her grandchildren, Jaiden and Roan.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society or the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, causes close to Gretchen's heart.

“Rich & Family: Our love and condolences go out to you. It was my (Michael's) privilege to have met Gretchen (and John) along the way of our childhood numerous times. They made me laugh and they tolerated our jokes and not-so-mysterious immaturity. They let us show up at your home and hang in the Middleton basement any and all hours of the night.
