James left this world on April 23, 2024 at the age of 76, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by : his parents, James Edward Highfield, Sr. and Lillian Grace Dale Highfield. He is survived by : his wife Carole Highfield of Gillsville; his daughters, Mary Highfield of Sandy Springs and Dorothy; his son-in-law Michael Barnes of Pendergrass; his niece Sandra Murphy of Naples, FL; and his sister Kaye Bethancourt of Tallahassee, FL.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Memorial Park Funeral Home (2030 Memorial Park Dr, Gainesville, GA 30504). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Michael Catholic Church (1440 Pearce Cir, Gainesville, GA 30501).
