He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Cowart and Jennie Rogers Cowart; his wife Jane Kicklighter Cowart; his siblings, Ernestine Oliver (Beverly), Herbert Cowart, Elva Lee Alston (Joe), Harris Cowart (Jewel), Ted Cowart (Dot) and Louise Thurman (Slim); and his sister-in-law Betty Waters (Lethridge).
He is survived by: his son Ernie Cowart (Tammy) of Glennville; his granddaughters, ClaraJane and LilyAnna Cowart; his brother Enoch Cowart (Polly) of Reidsville; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Kicklighter (Kathy) of Bluffton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (8882 GA-144, Glennville, GA 30427).
