He was predeceased by : his parents, Louie Thoms Porter and Juanita Conoley Porter; his wife Susan Marie Yarbrough; and his niece Liz Guttenberg. He is survived by : his daughters, Beth Mitchell (Billy) of Rutledge, GA and Ellen Koerner (Nathan) of Braselton, GA; his sister Emily Guttenberg (Kerry) of Appleton, WI; his grandchildren, Sam (Brittney), Will, Matt, Emma Grace, Tom, BethAnne, Mary Kaitlyn, Lauren Taylor, Jack Mitchell, Brendan, Grayson and Addison Koerner; his nephew Tom Guttenberg; his siblings-in-law, David Yarbrough (Suzanne) and Catherine Carter (Tom); and his nieces, Elizabeth Rodger, Lauren Yarbrough and Julia Carter.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church (113 Scott Rd, Eatonton, GA 31024). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
