She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert G. Smith and Elsie Hall Smith; her brother Ron Smith; and her former husband John Gary Yawn. She is survived by: her husband Robert E. "Bob" Houghton; her children, Tracy Smith, Chris Yawn, Kassandra Perry, Deena Houghton, Greg Slater of Newnan and Shawn Houghton; her grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Jessica, Joshua Johnson, Alyssa, Kyle Houghton, Melissa, Zachary Houghton Slater, Sarrah Houghton, Ethan Houghton and Paisley Smith; her great grandchild Sofia Houghton; and her siblings, Doug Smith, Bruce Smith, Chuck Smith, Carol, Gail Brooke, Jimmy, Patricia McDaniel, Johnnie, Kathy Smith and Rusty. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rock Springs Christian Academy, in memory of Carol Houghton.
