He was predeceased by : his parents, Herbert Zachary Lerner and Tessibel Evans Lerner. He is survived by : his wife Shirley Lerner; his children, John (Sheryle Lerner), Lawrence Lerner of Griffin and Laura Lerner Bowen (Ben Bowen); his grandchildren, Leah Lerner Hassey (Matt), Zach Lerner, Ben Bowen IV and Brady Bowen; and his great grandchild Olivia Paige Hassey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 132 N. 10th St., Griffin, GA 30223 or Stepping Stones Educational Center, 141 Futral Road, Griffin, GA 30224.
