With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Wilma Jean Wright Abernathy of Hazlehurst, Georgia, born in Holtville, California, who passed away on May 27, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, O. H. Davis and Ellen Elizabeth Davis; her former husband Robert E. L. Wright; her husband Dr. John Abernathy; her sisters, Joann Kohen, Flodie Copp and Carol Abernathy; and her stepchildren, Daniel Saldano of Jonesville, NC, John, Jamie Abernathy of Ennice, NC and Serena Childress of State Road, NC.
She is survived by: her children, Deborah, Jerry Toler of Hazelhurst, Robert, Kim Wright of Hilmar, CA, Craig and Marcy Wright of Hughson, CA; her brother Tommy Davis (Odelphia); her stepchildren, Nonnie Abernathy of Thurmond, NC, Tamera, Darryl Wilson of Thurmond, NC and Zishia; and her sisters-in-law, Josie Davis (Randy) of Rouzerville, PA and Viola Patterson. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren.
