He was predeceased by: his parents, James Butler, Sr. and Catherine Butler (Smith); his former wives, Leomie Fielding and Dorothy Singleton; his siblings, Laura, Ashley, Clevester Butler, Willis Butler, Bennie Butler and Rickey Courtney; his son Donnie Butler; and his great grandchildren, Frederick Kelly, Jr., Ja'Ahvani Butler and Justus Hyman.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Butler of Stratford, CT; his children, Jerron Butler (Renee) of Boston, MA, Rodney Butler (Wanda) of Augusta, GA, James Butler III (Consquella) of Augusta, GA, Monique Butler-Striggles of Boston, MA, Gary Singleton (Michelle) of Frederick, MD, Robin Mincey Drayton of Augusta, GA, Felecia Griffin of Savannah, GA and Jacquelyn Singleton (Tony) of Augusta, GA; and his siblings, Henry "Bobby" Butler of Evans, GA, Clara Mahomes of Villa Rica, GA and Catherine Drakes of Taunton, MA. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
