With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Grooms (Hiawassee, Georgia), born in Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away on June 4, 2023 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her father Cecil Grooms; her son Gene Bryant Penland; her mother Maybell Grooms; and the father of her children Gene Penland. She is survived by : her son Brent; her daughter-in-law Beverly Penland; her daughter Tammy; her son-in-law Terry Pickelsimer; her grandchildren, Tyler Penland (Carolann), Jordan Pickelsimer, Jenna Penland, Katie Penland and Savannah Pickelsimer; her great grandchildren, Oliver Penland and Rosie Penland; and her siblings, Barbara Grooms, Dottie Kelley, Nancy Huffman and Doug Grooms.
