He was predeceased by: his wife Nellie Ruth Brooks; his parents, Ben Brooks and Amanda Brooks; and his grandsons, Jeremy Hulsey, Cody Hulsey and Bobby Cowart.
He is survived by: his children, Shirley Bearden, Peggy Cowart, Emma Wright, Leon Brooks, Donna Hulsey, Ricky Brooks, Penny Tyree and Kenneth Brooks; and his sisters, Marie Fountain and Opalene Pardon. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
