He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Downes and Kathryn Downes; his children, Joe Downes of South Carolina, Lisa (Tracy Cox), Angie Downes of Jasper, Daniel (Charmagne Dean) and David (Shannah Dean); and his sisters, Patricia Johnson of Jasper, Linda Collins of LaVernia and Becky Lonidier of Colfax, Louisiana. He was also cherished by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
