He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Vernon Simpkins and Mary Ruth Simpkins; his wife Sandra Stanton Simpkins; his children, Mike Simpkins, Barry Simpkins and Kellie Simpkins Hunter (Tim) of Conyers; his sister Nellie Jane Kendall of Riverdale; and his granddaughters, Candiace, Kristen and Sharee. He was also cherished by six great grandchildren; a niece and nephews.
